I secured a booking for their Valentine's Day 5-course offering priced at 168++. Generally, the experience was awesome with delectable cuisine. All the courses were enjoyable and presented beautifully. However, a minor setback was observed in the delayed delivery of the main course, accompanied by a relatively modest portion size.
I came here 2 weeks ago for a End of Year Team Lunch, in which a special menu was created for our team. The food was a fusion of local, Peranakan and western take and presentation, balancing colours and taste for a festive lunch. It was such a joy tucking in to these delicious and pretty creations!
Though i read about this fmodern usion nonya restaurant, guess i'm not ready for modern assam fish. The nikkei-inspired grilled assam halibut ristotto is not my type as it considered "dry" assam, not so much cravy and the topok is cripsy where i prefer it to be soft. But i like the achar that comes with the rice and i would like to have more but there isn't any standalone achar dish in the menu, they are willing to sell it as an open order at $3.
I love the otah youtiao, combination is nice and yet not so oily youtiao.
I've been here a few times. The food here is consistently good. They serve fusion Peranakan food. We had ayam buah keluak, calamari, kueh pie tie and char kway teow. All the dishes were good. Will visit again.
If you have in mind the usual traditional Peranakan food, this is not the place for you. The dishes are more fusion-modern and bar-like. Food is generally appealing to taste buds, staff comes across as friendly, what I really love is the interior aesthetics and vibes.
Certainly interesting for an experience, but perhaps not a return visit, and the prices tend to be a little high.

4/10 Had this after reading all the Google 5 star reviews. Not sure is it because they changed from a Peranakan to a modern fusion restaurant.
Nasi goreng was dry and tasteless, soup was not very hot and not tasty enough. The oysters were half cooked so it’s weird. Not cheap as well
Only saving grace was the service of the staff , thus 4/10 all points goes to service
Until the food improve, don’t recommend anyone to try. Still gona post anyway

Service excellence goes to Marivel and Aeron. We had a great dining experience because of them.
Food was great too! Kudos to the Chef!!!
I couldn't say anything bad for the ambience of the restaurant as it bring more effect to the experience.
Serving up fusion Peranakan food here at Baba Chews. We had Kueh Pie Tee, Chap Chye and Pork Belly Satay. Portion was really big so it's good for sharing. Food tasted good too.
